Photography Equipment - What's in my camera bag?

This is a question I often ask and is a difficult question to answer. When travel tend to "travel" light, often only lead to a variety of body and two lenses plus other paraphernalia. When I have the luxury of travvelling by car or boat which tend to carry more, closer to what I have listed below. So here is my rant about what's in my bag. Any comments?

For starters, I use Nikon cameras. I am often asked why I use Nikon and Canon instead of the answer goes back about thirty years when I started photography seriously. A friend had a Canon F1 with a motor drive and had a few simple Nikon F, there is no subway, only basic cameras. What caught my attention Canon was on how heavy and bulky that the package was. Now, this is nothing against Canon and Nikon equivalent at that time was probably as big and heavy. To the be a shoestring budget for many of my early years I gained a lot of use Nikkor lenses and other systems of various components.Years later Pentax came out with a little fancy professional camera, the Pentax LX. The lenses are good and strong, it was all lighter than the equivalent Nikon equipment and I sold all my gear to beat Nikon and temporarily switched to Pentax. Although I enjoyed using the Pentax set-up suffered from lack of development and the bodies had a tendency to have the shutters crack at inopportune moments. It was time to go back to Nikon again.

With the digital age it was clear that Nikon or Canon would get my business. In most of ways that was an easy decision for me, I had all these Nikkor lenses, why reinvest in a completely new system? That's why I'm still using Nikon. Is Nikon better than Canon? My guess is that any modern cameras can produce great images with a good photographer who exploit them. All these systems can also produce terrible results with an incompetent photographer operating them. Also, I have started using many third-party lenses that can be purchased from many different systems. I guess it really comes down to personal preference.

So what's in my bag? I'll start with foreign elements and accessories:

Toshiba laptop (only if necessary, a few days of computers is healthy), I'll tell you what's on your computer at a later date
Cable release
USB reader
2 USB cables (I either lose them or they are a little picky)
250 GB hard drive
160 gb hard drive
Trash bags (lots)
Band aid (which are useful for more than mend my body)
Cleaning fluid
Lens cleaning paper (in Actually, I almost always use my old shirt or other clothing, underwear (clean), etc., I know ....)
Permanent marker
BC Ferry schedule (can not be useful for many of you)
An old magazine or two (for the road, usually more than photography as Air and Space or Vintage Motorsports)
Lightweight gloves
LED Flashlight Super Duper
Visa card, "can not leave home without it"
Leaky pens and
a small pair of scissors and a knife (you have to remember to remove before boarding an airplane).

Battery chargers for two cameras and flash. (Why they can not be compatible boggles my mind, in a perfect world ...)

There you go, nothing fancy and all the abuse altogether. Am I missing something? Well, a 500mm lens would be safe well, maybe a fish eye, donations are always accepted.
